Whipple I had the honor of marrying my best friend nearly fifteen years ago and, in doing so, I became a Navy wife. My husband, Rex, has been in the Navy for fourteen years. We have four children ranging in age from four to eleven. We are a close family even with the trials of separation we have encountered as a Navy family. Over the course of Rex's Navy career, we've spent the equivalent of more than four years apart due to deployments. His most recent deployment was for ten months in 2014–2015. We call our family a "team." When he is away, our family misses out on playing with their dad on the playground, roasting marshmallows in the back yard, our family's pizza and movie night, and so many parts of our everyday family routine.
