Q:
How Do I Freeze a Casserole?
I believe learning how to freeze casseroles is a good life skill. Whether you are called to make food for a friend in need or simply desire a quick weeknight dinner for your family, the most efficient way to get the job done is with a casserole that's been made ahead.
Follow these guidelines
.
Casseroles without much dairy are the best contenders for freezing. When prepping your recipe, line the pan with parchment before piling in the ingredients. Stop before adding any crunchy toppings, though! These should be frozen separately in their own container and added after thawing and right before baking.
Once the casserole is frozen, remove it from the pan, keeping it in the parchment, then transfer the casserole to a different container and place back in the freezer. This frees up your 13×9 for other uses.
It's also smart to label the container with essential info such as the recipe name, baking directions and use-by date. Once ready to use, remove it from the freezer and let it thaw overnight in the fridge prior to baking.
