Click here Friday, 26 February 2021 Special edition of the Weekly Epidemiological Update (25 February) Overview: In this special edition of the Weekly Epidemiological Update, WHO provides a working definition of variants of interest (VOI) and variants of concern (VOC) of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. It lays out the actions that countries and WHO should take if a variant meets these criteria. By providing these working definitions, we allow for the prioritization of variants of greatest public health relevance. These working definitions will be regularly reviewed and updated as necessary. This special edition is supplementary to the 23 February Weekly Epidemiological Update.
