...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT ELBERT...SOUTHEASTERN
ANDERSON...ABBEVILLE AND NORTHWESTERN GREENWOOD COUNTIES UNTIL 500 AM
EDT...

At 428 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 9
miles east of Elberton, or near Lake Russell, moving east at 70 mph.

Locations to be impacted include...
Greenwood, Abbeville, Elberton, Calhoun Falls, Due West, Iva, Lake
Secession, Donalds, Cokesbury and Hodges.

Wind gusts up to 45 mph, half inch hail and very heavy rainfall rates
up to 2 inches per hour will be possible in these areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio and tv
stations, as well as local cable tv outlets for additional
information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

Lake Russell is in the path of this storm. Cloud to ground lightning
and gusty winds will create dangerous boating conditions.
Move to shore immediately.

Doppler radar indicates weak rotation with this storm. Spin-up of a
very brief, weak tornado cannot be ruled out. Be prepared to take
immediate action if a tornado is sighted or a Tornado Warning is
issued.
