At its regular meeting held from 22 to 25 March 2021, SAGE discussed critical topics relating to immunization globally. Agenda items included: - Status of Ebola vaccines and currently available data for vaccine use, with a view for potential recommendation for off-label use of rVSV ZEBOV GP and on the preventive use of Ebola vaccines
- Updates on vaccine acceptance and uptake and summary of ongoing work to develop tools and guidance to measure and address behavioural and social drivers of vaccination
- Updates on the status of measles and rubella and on the impact of current policies and strategies
- Polio eradication in the context of COVID 19 and novel oral polio vaccine type 2 (nOPV2) first use experience
- COVID-19 vaccines: review of interim data on Sinopharm and Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine products and the review of case definitions and clinical endpoints used in trials for COVID-19 vaccines
- Evolving situation pertaining to SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern (VOC) and an overview of the types of evidence on COVID-19 vaccine performance against the VOCs
- COVID-19 Vaccination and Early Learning: status of COVID-19 vaccine introductions globally and readiness of countries

The Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on Immunization is the principal advisory group to WHO for vaccines and immunization. It is charged with advising WHO on overall global policies and strategies, ranging from vaccines and technology, research and development, to delivery of immunization and its linkages with other health interventions. SAGE is concerned not just with childhood vaccines and immunization, but all vaccine-preventable diseases.
