You only need two ingredients!
| Put "buttermilk" in any recipe title, and I'm automatically interested! From pound cakes and pancakes to chicken and chops, buttermilk makes dishes tender, flavorful and rich. If you don't have the favorite ingredient around, easily make it with two kitchen staples. You can prepare your own buttermilk with milk and vinegar, lemon juice or cream of tartar. If using vinegar or lemon juice, simply add 1 Tbsp. of the acidic ingredient to a measuring cup, then add enough milk to measure 1 cup. Stir, then let sit for 5 minutes. If using cream of tartar, combine 1-3/4 tsp. of the powder and 1 cup milk, then stir. And if none of these work for you, you can also substitute yogurt. 1 cup of yogurt equals 1 cup of buttermilk. So simple! | | |
