What to Read This Weekend

After 19 years in the majors and more than 18,000 innings crouched behind the plate, the old catcher has two World Series rings and has earned more than $170 million. After all of that, what is the next step? Traveling the world? Building a beach home? Plopping down in front of a television and disappearing from the limelight?

Yadier Molina, the longtime backstop of the St. Louis Cardinals, whose résumé is widely expected to land him in the Baseball Hall of Fame, doesn't want any of that yet. Whenever the Cardinals' season ends, he will immediately head to Venezuela to embark on his next chapter: managing.

What to Watch This Weekend

Soccer

Leeds United are holding down sixth place in the Premier League after two games. Chelsea, a spot behind, are looking to move up in a visit to Elland Road (Sunday, 9 a.m., USA). Paris St.-Germain is hosting Lille in an early-season first-versus-second matchup in Ligue 1 (Sunday, 2:45 p.m., beIN).

Basketball

The New York Liberty upset the Chicago Sky in Game 1 of their W.N.B.A. playoff series and could close out an unexpected series win in Game 2 in Chicago (Saturday, noon, ESPN).

Gymnastics

The U.S. Championships are concluding in Tampa, Fla., this weekend (men, Saturday, 7 p.m., CNBC; women, Sunday, 7 p.m., NBC). *In New York, the Sunday broadcast will be pre-empted by preseason football, but it is also available on Peacock and NBCSports.com/live.

Boxing

A good fight that's not on pay-per-view: Emanuel Navarrete, a featherweight ranked No. 1 by The Ring magazine, takes on Eduardo Baez in San Diego in a World Boxing Organization championship bout (Saturday, 10 p.m.; main event approximately 11:30, ESPN).
