By Jeanne Cassetta Have you ever gotten the feeling that you aren't completely embarrassed yet, but you glimpse tomorrow's embarrassment? ~Tom Cruise I had just graduated from high school, and my parents bought me a plane ticket to Las Vegas to visit my uncle and his family. My uncle was the casino manager at a famous hotel on the strip at the time. It was such an exciting adventure for me. I had never been away from home and to have this be my first trip was overwhelming! I was so intoxicated by all the glitz and glamour of the Vegas strip and the beautiful hotels that I could barely eat or sleep. I felt very important because, wherever we went, someone knew my uncle and treated me like I was a celebrity! Every day was filled with new experiences that were so exciting to a young girl. One evening, my aunt and I drove over to the casino to meet my uncle for a bite to eat in the restaurant. We sat in a horseshoe-shaped booth. I was sitting on one side with my back to the door. We had a pleasant meal, and my uncle knew how exciting it would be for me to be able to "comp" a check, so he told the waitress to give it to me so I could sign it.
