Both documents are available under embargo, please write to mediainquiries@who.int to obtain a copy. Sixty per cent of the global population is employed in some form and we spend a third of our lifetime at work. WHO’s first-ever evidence-based global Guidelines on Mental Health at Work recommends interventions to reshape work situations and ways of working, offer better support to people with mental health conditions and also prevent factors that negatively affect the mental health and wellbeing of all employees at work. The WHO and ILO policy brief translates the Guidelines' recommendations for national and workplace policy-makers, especially governments, employers and representative organizations. The actions are aligned with the existing international frameworks and conventions on work, disability and human rights developed by the ILO, WHO and the United Nations. The two documents support the ambition of the WHO Comprehensive mental health action plan 2013–2030 to transform mental health around the world. International Safe Abortion Day Wednesday marks International Safe Abortion Day! The right to sexual and reproductive health (SHR) is an integral part of the right to health, enshrined in article 12 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Achieving sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) should be celebrated, but unfortunately, in many countries, health and bodily autonomy are human rights that are under attack, especially when it comes to comprehensive abortion care. Limiting access to SHR services directly harms women and girls. The WHO guidance is clear: abortion care is health care, and health is a human right. Despite this, abortion remains a highly stigmatized issue. In order for safe, respectful and affordable abortion care to be accessible to all who need it when they need it, there should be continuous advocacy for the right to abortion care and to combat stigma impacting those who seek and provide this form of health care. WHO will showcase an online exhibition pf photographs from four countries around the world to highlight the importance of SRHR. Public hearings inform the deliberations of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (INB) to draft and negotiate a WHO convention, agreement or other international instrument on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, as mandated by the World Health Assembly at its special session in December 2021. The first round of public hearings was held on 12 and 13 April 2022.
