Eisenhower There was a time in our lives when two energetic Labrador Retrievers in the household seemed like a good idea. First, there was a small black Lab given to us in exchange for a bag of dog food. She came with the name Brandy. She wasn't cuddly; she was almost aloof. But she was gentle with children, which made her a good fit for our young daughters. Not long after Brandy's arrival, my husband called from work to ask if he could bring home a puppy — another black Lab that needed a home. We named the friendly newcomer Alexander because we thought Brandy and Alexander had a nice ring to it. The two dogs got along fine. Brandy tolerated Alex's playful puppy behavior even though he ended up being twice her size, at nearly 100 pounds. (Keep reading) |
