Learning Network: Teaching About the Earthquake in Turkey and Syria

LeBron James, the Super Bowl, the science of awe

Dear Reader,

One of the most powerful earthquakes ever recorded in Turkey struck on Monday, killing over 20,000 people and devastating a densely populated region of southern Turkey and northern Syria. This week we provided teachers and students with ways to better understand the crisis, including photos, videos and audio of the devastation; background on the region; the science behind earthquakes and why they can be so disastrous; as well as ways to help.

We also published — or updated — resources for teaching about LeBron James, the Super Bowl, the science of awe and the U.S. health care system.

Sincerely,
The Learning Network
