Q:
Can you freeze butter?
You butter believe you can!
Freezing butter
is a pro move and a great way to take advantage of a good sale when you find it.
Freezing butter won't affect its taste or performance. Seal it up in an airtight bag or container and stash it in the freezer for up to four months. That extra layer of wrapping will prevent any freezer smells from permeating your go-to butter brand.
When you're ready to use it, pop it in the fridge to defrost overnight or right on the counter for recipes that call for room-temp butter.

Taste of Home receives thousands of recipes from its community of home cooks every year. Before any dish is published, it's approved by the Taste of Home Test Kitchen, where our test cooks and editors make sure it is easy to follow, reliable and absolutely delicious.
Here's what our Test Kitchen is looking for now:
Oodles of Noodles Recipe Contest
Twirl your way to the top by submitting the best pasta and noodle dishes. Your Roman-inspired cacio e pepe ravioli could take first place. The authentic Chinese dan dan noodles you whip up on weeknights sound dang good, too. And don't count out that nostalgic midwestern pasta salad you ate at every church supper during childhood.
Send us your favorite recipes for tortellini, pappardelle, ramen—you name it!—and you could win $500.
