The Beauty of a Challenge From Chicken Soup for the Soul: Get Out of Your Comfort Zone By Jeanne Nott There's nothing more addictive or incredible in life than reinventing yourself and allowing yourself to be different every day. ~Thalia Looking at my bucket list and all the items that had been crossed off, I realized something. When I was young, I had experienced the excitement of new adventures. But then, during the pandemic, I had lost my job and I had started to live a safe, comfortable life, one without new challenges. At seventy-four, I was content to take things as they came. Or was I? One day, I was corresponding with a dear friend on the computer. During the conversation, my friend started talking about the Ms. Colorado Senior America Pageant. Years ago, she had participated in it and won. I had never even heard of it; the only pageant I was familiar with was the Miss America pageant. I grew up near Atlantic City where the Miss America pageants were held and attended parades of the contestants on the boardwalk. My friend stressed that this was not a beauty pageant. Rather, it honored women over sixty. The best part, she added, was there was no swimsuit competition. I told her I would think about it. (Keep reading) |
