The vision pulls you. ~Steve Jobs My family always had the basics, but there was little money for much else beyond food and shelter. Everyone in our small town lived the same way, which is why I was pleasantly surprised when my mother came up with the money to purchase my fourth-grade class picture. Twenty-two students lined up in three rows and faced the camera with goofy smiles. My teacher, Mrs. Cornell, a fiery redhead, stood to the side. She kept strict rules, but I loved her as I did all my teachers. I clung to my one-and-only class picture like a new teddy bear. Ever so carefully, I wrote all my classmates' names on the back. I was the nerdy kid who loved school. Every subject engrossed me as I absorbed knowledge. Schoolwork was never a burden. Even when I was sick, I still wanted to go to school. (Keep reading) |
