U.S. warned Putin last year over Russian explosives on planes

The warnings seem to have worked — but it's unclear for how long.

The White House warned Vladimir Putin last year after U.S. intelligence agencies found that Russia was preparing to send explosive packages on planes. "The risk of catastrophic error was clear," Alejandro Mayorkas, the homeland security secretary, said, "that these could catch fire in a fully loaded aircraft."
