My marriage ended after seventeen years, I got laid off, a dear friend and mentor died, and I had an adolescent child who was facing circumstances that were beyond my ability to fix. My physical and emotional health suffered as I attempted to keep my mind straight in the midst of overwhelming pain and uncertainty. From the outside, my smile, energy and personal accomplishments made others believe that life for me was great, but at night, I took the mask off.
