Oatmeal creme pies were a classic, of course, but Star Crunch was my go-to. Cosmic brownies were a close second and reserved as a special treat. Follow our copycat recipe to make your own at home.

Preheat oven to 450°. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, Parmesan, salt and garlic powder. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk and parsley; stir just until moistened.
Lots of folks have accomplished this month's mission already. Anna started out with a classic apple crisp. Theresa made apple hand pies for her grandkids. And Kim made apple bars for Labor Day.
Even if the weather hasn't quite caught up, September marks the start of autumn for so many of us—especially those with a fall baking bucket list. There's nothing cozier than digging into fresh-baked apple desserts with loved ones this time of year.
